Apart from these conditions, oculoplasty is helpful for individuals who have paralysis attack and who experience difficulty in eye closure. People with thyroid dysfunction may have asymmetry between the eyes which can be corrected with oculoplasty. Due to a trauma or surgery, a person may end up with a disfigured shape which can be dealt with oculoplasty.

Ocular prosthesis involves implanting a prosthetic eye for people who have lost an eye due to an injury or disease. A prosthetic eye is comprised of oval shell that is white in colour and a round central part. The whitish shell is made to resemble the white colour of the eye and the round central part to resemble the iris and pupil. The reasons for removing an eye are injury, eye growths, eye infection and glaucoma. It is very important to do an implant of prosthetic eye when an individual loses eye due to a disease.
